For our location in Ludwigshafen, Germany we are looking for a REF: 2100165 JOB DESCRIPTION The position is located within the Tau Biology Group in the Neuroscience Discovery organization at Ludwigshafen. The accomplished neurobiologist will make substantial contributions to the conception and execution of new therapeutic approaches to neurodegenerative diseases in a collaborative environment with a focus on Alzheimer Disease and other tauopathies. A primary responsibility of the successful candidate will be to develop and achieve Tau-targeting projects in alignment with functional goals and key scientific objectives. Key Responsibilities: Lead and contribute to target identification and validation research, specifically with focus on Tau Biology in neurodegenerative diseases. Lead and contribute to drug discovery and advancement research. Stay abreast of, and contribute to, relevant literature. Conduct and oversee the design, execution, and interpretation of novel bench research. Collaborate with colleagues at multiple AbbVie sites to identify and optimize drug leads to produce clinical candidates of outstanding promise. Qualifications: PhD in Neuroscience or related field, with typically 6 - 8+ years of experience, including industrial drug discovery; or Master's Degree or equivalent with typically 12 - 14+ years of experience; or Bachelor's Degree or equivalent with typically 14 - 16+ years of experience Significant accomplishments in Tau biology research and/or neurodegenerative disease drug discovery, with a strong record of publications and patents Experience in Alzheimer disease, tauopathies or other neurodegenerative diseases. Expertise in Tau Biology or pathological protein aggregation, assay development, relevant neuronal and in vivo models. Expertise in relevant technologies, such as iPSC-derived neuron culture; transcriptomics, or proteomics; RNAi or CRISPR screening; flow cytometry; and high content phenotypic screening; protein biochemistry, cell and molecular biology. Interest in advancing rapidly developing technologies, track record of developing innovative model systems Experience in working in multidisciplinary teams, and in external collaborations Excellent communication skills and proficiency in English (written and oral).
